F1 HUGGY - FERRARI FIX FURY
27 / Jul / 2010

And just when the season looked like it had settled into a nice competitive rhythm, Ferrari go and ruin it.

Or did they?

It was a move that has echoed around the world and one that could tarnish Ferrari's name for some time to come.

The race began and Massa found himself in P1 from the grid with a closely tracking Alonso. This race was exactly a year to the day from the Brazilian's life threatening accident last season that saw him sit out the rest of the year.

How sweet it would have been for him to stand on the top step for such an anniversary. But it was not to be.

The forces of Alonso and Ferrari struck and it was clear that the order was given for Massa to let his Spanish team mate pass. It was just 18 laps from the flag when over the radio you could hear a dismayed Rob Smedley (Massa's race engineer) inform Massa that 'Alonso is quicker than you'.

It was within the next few turns that Alonso made his easy pass. At the end of the race a very shifty looking Stefano Domenicali was seen pacing up and down one of the garages, trying to avoid the onslaught from the media that awaited him.
